With moral and social content of a setting, characters’ personal traits are changed and shaped. In this essay, the role of social texture on the formation of individuals’ characters will be examined in the novel “Mansfield Park” by Jane Austen in which the story takes place during the 19th century, in England city and country settings. Furthermore, the term “social texture” will be accepted and used as the effect of the setting on the development of the personalities of the characters through social status and the current moral and social understandings of the given time and place.
